Prior to becoming a teacher, Dr. Jelavich worked for five years in Washington, DC as an economist for two consulting groups. Currently Jelavich's courses include Economic Development (52-355), Labor Economics (52-354), and Managerial Economics (52-654). His research interests are in regional economics and regional economic development. Outside the University, he enjoys being with his family, being involved in community projects, and has an avid interest in railroads.
His advice to students is to "be creative, and stay involved in your community."
