Faculty, staff and students with university provided notebook computers should have no trouble using the Northwest Secure wireless network. There is also a Guest [Non-secure] wireless network available.
Wireless is active in a variety of public locations including, but not limited to, Owens Library, the Station, the Student Union, the Forest Village Community Building, South Complex and Roberta lobbies, Valk entry center, Colden Hall 3rd level center, Garrett-Strong 2nd level center, Fine Arts entry center and the Administration Building 3rd level.
Non-university provided notebook computers must have Windows XP Professional with XP SP-2, be properly configured and a part of the domain to work successfully with Northwest's Secure wireless network. Configuration instructions for using the Secure wireless network are located on the Personal Computers online support page.
When using the Secure or Guest [Non-Secure] wireless network, unplug the computer from the wired network and, similarly, be sure to disable your wireless connection when using the wired network. Instructions on switching between Ethernet and wireless and installing the Windows XP SP-2 update (if needed) are on the Wireless Connection online support page.
