User Accounts

Network & Email

Every student, faculty and staff member at Northwest Missouri State University are given their own unique Northwest computing identity in the form of a Northwest Network Account username and password to be able to access Northwest provided services.  See the Accounts & Access - Changing Password web page for more details and Frequently Asked Questions.

Every faculty and staff member has an email account and network personal file storage account created for them on the campus network. Faculty and staff are given 2 gigabytes of email storage and 2 gigabytes of personal file storage.  Every student has an email account and personal file storage space (OneDrive) within their Student Email account via Microsoft Office 365. Student email is at least 10 gigabytes and student personal file storage is at least 7 gigabytes depending upon what Microsoft allocates to its users.  See the Northwest Email web page for more details and Frequently Asked Questions.

Usernames for new faculty and staff can be obtained by contacting the Human Resources office in the Administration Building, AD 125, 660.562.1127. Students who are pre-registered will typically obtain usernames and passwords during their orientation. However, students can also obtain their usernames and passwords from the Personal Information section of their CatPAWS account.

CatPAWS Account

Every student, faculty and staff member at Northwest Missouri State University has a Cat Personal Access to Web Services (CatPAWS) account. CatPAWS is a web-based program that will allow students to enroll in classes, drop classes, view their Northwest transcript and institutional bill. CatPAWS also allows faculty to enter grades and view class lists. All faculty, staff and students employed on campus can see their pay stubs and tax information within CatPAWS. To log onto your CatPAWS account, you must use your 919# number as your username and a PIN. Northwest Online Account

Most students, particularly students taking online courses, and faculty will have a Northwest Online account created for them through the Center for Information Technology in Education (CITE) office and Canvas.

Banner Account

Internet Native Banner is an administrative system which is part of Northwest's Enterprise Resource Planning software. All administrative staff have an account in Banner to perform their job duties. Banner username and access privileges are given by Northwest's DataBase Administrator (DBA). Passwords can be changed by contacting the Information Technology (IT) Help Desk at 660.562.1634.

Cascade Server Account

University web pages are created and maintained through Cascade.  Hannon Hill Cascade Server uses single-sign-on technology which means once you have been granted access to use Cascade, your Northwest network username and password can be used to log in.
