Northwest Missouri State University

Electronic Classrooms and Faculty Notebooks

Every faculty member is provided a notebook computer with access to classrooms equipped with a digital projector, document camera, network access and in most classrooms a VCR/DVD player.

Northwest's computer-enriched applications of technology to learning is one of the most advanced in the nation, and we continue to explore new applications for our faculty and our students.

Our faculty are continuously adapting their teaching methods to involve the use of emerging technologies. Using both notebook computers and desktop computers, faculty utilize an array of technological  resources to improve student learning. Underlying this effort to enhance the students' learning experience is Northwest's course management system, Pearson Learning Studio (eCollege). This platform enables faculty to provide a wealth of teaching and learning resources to their students in face-to-face, blended and online courses.

Northwest is also an active participant in the Quality Matters program.  Quality Matters is a faculty peer review process for online and blended courses to ensure the quality of online courses. For participating Northwest faculty, the review process assists faculty to:

  • improve student learning outcomes
  • gain external validation for internal and external accreditation reviews
  • gain evidence that could be used in support of promotion and tenure applications
  • become a reviewer with the opportunity to review other courses and gain new ideas for their own courses
