Northwest Missouri State University

Electronic Classrooms and Faculty Notebooks

Every faculty member is provided a notebook computer with access to some 80 electronic classrooms. These classrooms have a port to the network plus an overhead digital projector.

Northwest's computer-enriched applications of technology to learning is one of the most advanced in the nation, and we continue to explore new applications for our faculty and our students.

In fact, the state of Missouri has recently designated the Northwest campus as the center for development of new applications of information technology to learning.

Our faculty are continuously adapting their teaching methods to involve the use of emerging technologies. Using both notebook computers and desktop computers, faculty utilize CD-ROM, the World Wide Web, Groupware, and modularized learning units as resources to improve student learning.

Faculty integrate information technology into their assignments and their teaching in as many ways as there are to teach.

Computer--intensive courses in select disciplines may be offered to students who wish to immerse themselves in the technology, with assignments to be completed outside the classroom.
