If you changed your Northwest network account password in Outlook Live, your other passwords for such things as myNorthwest and logging in to a campus networked computer to print a document will NOT be in sync with your Outlook Live account.
A4 - What do I do if I accidentally changed my password in Outlook Live?
Go to the How to Change Passwords web page and change your password again using these directions. You can also go directly to the Internet Service Manager.
Note: Be sure that you LOG OUT of your Outlook Live email account BEFORE changing your password again through the How to Change Passwords web page.
A5 - How do I get started with Outlook Live?
If you need help getting started with Outlook Live, please see the Outlook Live email and personal file storage (SkyDrive) quick reference guide located on Information System's Email support web page. Otherwise go to the Windows Live Help Center.
A6 - How do I use my SkyDrive within my Outlook Live account?
Students have personal file storage in their SkyDrive within their Outlook Live account. If you need help using SkyDrive, please see the Windows Live SkyDrive help center and click on the link You decide who has access.
Note: To upload [save] files to your SkyDrive (personal file storage), click on the Office link within Outlook Live and then select Your documents. You can also save directly to your SkyDrive if you are working in Word, Excel and PowerPoint by doing the following:
A7 - How do I set up my mobile phone to access my email?
To set up your mobile phone to work with your email, please see the Mobile Phone Setup Wizard to select your phone and setup your phone. You can also view the Mobile Phones link on the Microsoft Outlook help center for other instructions.
Note: As a student, unless you have ActiveSync, you must be on your 3G or 4G network to have both incoming and outgoing mail available to you on the Northwest campus. Look for the Windows Live or Exchange option on your phone when setting up your email. If you have ActiveSync, the server is: m.outlook.com. To receive email using Northwest's WIFI network, you must log-in with your full Northwest email address (username@mail.nwmissouri.edu) and current Northwest account password. If you do not have ActiveSync, outgoing mail for students is blocked on Northwest's WIFI network. If you want to use Northwest's WIFI network with your Outlook Live email and do not have ActiveSync, you will only be able to have incoming mail available to you. You will need to use Pop3 and set your incoming Server settings to use SSL Security, and be on Port 110 or 995. The server is pod51008.Outlook.com.
A8 - How do I set up Outlook to access my Outlook Live email?
If you have a university-provided computer, you can set up Outlook to work successfully with Outlook Live with these instructions. To set up Outlook to work successfully with Outlook Live on a non-university provided computer, please see the Email Setup link and specifically the Connect Outlook to This Account on the Microsoft Outlook help center for instructions.
Note: Please be sure to do the initial setup of Outlook and Outlook Live wired (Ethernet cable) and not wireless. Trying to configure Outlook to work with Outlook Live may not be successful using wireless. However, once properly configured, you should have no trouble using Outlook wirelessly.

Student Outlook Live Email occured in 3 phases: Phase 1, Phase 2 and Phase 3.
A10 - What do I do if I have questions about the student email service?
If you have questions, please contact the Client Computing-Information Systems Help Desk at 660.562.1634. You can also email the Help Desk at helpdesk@nwmissouri.edu.
A11 - What is the Cloud?
The "Cloud" is a general term used by software service providers to describe online services provided by remote servers. A12 - What is the difference between Cloud email and Outlook Live?
At Northwest Missouri State University, we have been using the terms Cloud Email and Outlook Live interchangeably. However, Outlook Live is the better term to describe the student email system.
A13 - Will Google Chrome work with Outlook Live?
Google Chrome may work with Outlook Live, but problems have been reported, so there is no guarantee that Google Chrome will work with Outlook Live all the time. If you exeprience difficulty with Outlook Live when using Google Chrome, switch to another internet service browser such as Internet Explorer 9 or 8, Mozilla Foxfire or Safari.
A14 - How will I email my professor or campus employer on Outlook Live?
Faculty and full-time staff have their email on the campus's Microsoft Exchange Server and thus, have a different email address than students. Students have mail.nwmissouri.edu accounts and faculty/staff have nwmissouri.edu accounts.
Note: The university's "global address list" is available in Outlook Live so that students may look up and email other Northwest students, faculty and staff without having to know the person's full email address. See Q15 for how to use the Outlook Live global address list.
A15 - How can I email someone at Northwest if I don't know their email address?
Once you start a new email message in Outlook Live, you can simply click on the To: and Northwest's entire, scrollable "global address list" will appear. You can also type a name (if you know the person's full name) in the To: textbox of your new mail message and click the Check Names icon.
A16 - How do I send email from Outlook Live's Junk E-Mail folder to my Inbox?
Outlook Live does a good job of targeting junk email and placing those items into the Junk E-Mail folder. However, occasionally email that you do want may find its way into the Junk E-Mail folder. Therefore, it is important to periodically check the Junk E-Mail folder to make sure you aren't missing mail that you do want to receive. See these instructions on how to move email that had been placed in the Junk E-Mail folder back to your Inbox.
