Dr. Jon Rickman, Vice President of Northwest's Information Systems, recently traveled to a conference in Boston, MA, to be a panelist at the 13th Annual Educational Technology Conference sponsored in August by Campus Technology magazine. The session was entitled, "What You Don't Know About Tablet PCs for Instruction."
Rickmam discussed a wide range of notebook computer technologies designed to enhance the classroom experience, including, but not limited to, the note-taking features of Microsoft OneNote and voice and handwriting recognition software.
While at the conference, Rickman had the opportunity to attend a couple of workshops at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), including a session at the prestigious Media Laboratory.
Since the mid-1980s, Media Laboratory researchers have worked to build technological bridges between education and industry in such areas as cognition, electronic music, graphic design, video imaging, holography and human-machine interfaces.
Also in attendance at the conference was Roger Von Holzen, director of the Center for Information and Technology Education (CITE) and Darla Runyon, assistant director of CITE.
