About the Help Desk

The Client Computing-Information Systems Help Desk is a phone-in service provided by the Information Systems department to assist students, faculty and staff with computer and network-related problems.

What the Help Desk Provides

Phone Support is provided by the Client Computing-Information Systems Help Desk Team.

Support is provided for XP Professional and VISTA. Support is also provided for Microsoft Office Professional 2003 and 2007 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).

In addition, support is provided for Microsoft Outlook 2007, CATPages, Microsoft Internet Explorer, CatPAWS, and Microsoft Web-Based Outlook email on IBM compatible microcomputers.

Some limited support is provided for MAC computers with regard to configuration on the Northwest Network.

The Help Desk also has information on training materials for software applications, covering such subjects such as MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access), and email.

The Help Desk will initiate repair only on University purchased computing equipment, computing equipment on Missouri purchasing contracts, printers manufactured by HP and Lexmark, as well as classroom projectors, document cameras and VCRs in teacher stations from Sharp and Infocus. Information Systems does NOT repair special boards, modems, projectors, digitizers, scanners or personally owned equipment.

Hours of Availability

Client Computing-Information Systems Help Desk representatives are available Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to assist students, faculty and staff with university standardized software and hardware problems. Additional evening and weekend hours are also available during the Spring and Fall Trimesters: 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday.

Note: Help Desk hours may vary during intercessions, summer and holidays. Help Desk service may also vary due to staff availability.

When calling the Help Desk, if you receive a busy signal or no answer, wait fifteen minutes and try calling again. If Help Desk assistance is unavailable, please call back the next working day and prior to 5 p.m.
