Connecting to a Campus Printer with Your University Notebook Computer

Connecting your residence hall networked printer with your University
provided notebook computer is simple and won’t take up much of your time.
Printing to a campus printer is currently 10 cents per black-and-white page and
will be auto-billed to your individual university account.

To install your residence hall printer to your campus notebook computer, follow these steps:

  1. Turn on your notebook computer and login with your Northwest (NT/ email) username and password.
  2. Right-click on the My Network Places icon.
  3. Click on Search for computers…
  4. In the left-hand frame, under Computer Name in the text box, type the name PERI and press the [Enter] key.
  5. In the right hand frame, there will be a computer icon with the name of PERI.
    • All residence hall printers are now located on PERI.
  6. Double-click on PERI.
  7. In the new window that will come up, double-click on the icon for your residence hall printer.
  8. If prompted whether or not you want to continue setting up the printer, click Yes.
  9. A print queue window will open. Once that window has opened, you can close it and all previous windows that were opened to install the printer.

The printer will now be installed on your computer in the Printers folder within the Control Panel folder, which you can access by clicking on Control Panel on the Start menu.

If you have questions about connecting to a campus networked printer or other computing-related questions, contact your residence hall PERT or the Client Computing-Information Systems Help Desk at 660-562-1634.
