Center for Information Technology in Education

Beyond supporting the instructional technology needs of Northwest faculty, the CITE office also encourages and supports the scholarship of teaching by assisting Northwest faculty in the development and sharing of pedagogical and content-specific knowledge, supporting faculty in their teaching and professional activities, and providing faculty with access to professional development support and resources.  Specific services areas the CITE office provides include teaching, research and the scholarship of teaching, student support and personal enrichment.

Online Design

All online courses at Northwest Missouri State University are delivered through the Pearson eCollege course management system.   CITE supports the use of the Quality Matters (QM) 41 standards as a foundation for the design and development of online courses.  A copy of the QM standards can be obtained by contacting the CITE Office.

Blended Design

All blended courses at Northwest Missouri State University are delivered through the Pearson eCollege course management system.   CITE supports the use of the Quality Matters (QM) 41 standards as a foundation for the design and development of blended courses.  A copy of the QM standards can be obtained by contacting the CITE Office.

Definition for blended courses:   In a blended course, class content is delivered through a mix of online and face-to-face meetings with 1/3 to 1/2 of the class time being held online.  Blended course designation will be for graduate courses only (at this time).  Blended course code:  KCLB for the Kansas City Center and SJB for the St. Joe Center.

Face-To-Face Design

All face-to-face courses at Northwest Missouri State University are provided a course site through the Pearson eCollege course management system.   CITE supports the use of the Quality Matters (QM) 41 standards as a foundation for the design and development of face-to-face courses.  A copy of the QM standards can be obtained by contacting the CITE Office.

Face-to-face courses meet at regularly scheduled times on campus and can have an eCompanion course site to accompany the course materials and delivery.
