FP-LC is a term applied to several chromatography techniques/modes e.g., ion exchange, hydrophobic, gel filtration and affinity chromatography which are used to purify proteins and biopolymers. Many of these techniques are identical to those carried out under HPLC/LC, however use of FPLC techniques are typically for preparing large scale batches of a purified product. Careful control of temperature, pressure, and flow rates are characteristic of these HPLC and FPLC systems and make them ideal for high throughput purification.
