About the Center
What is the Center?
Northwest has launched a regional economic development initiative, the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The Center has two synergistic components: a mixed-use incubator and an academic facility. The incubator is designed to house several start-up companies; the academic facility has been programmed to house the newly approved nanotechnology baccalaureate degree program.
The Center is a mixed-use incubator with emphasis on technology-based, start-up companies. The CIE provides assistance to existing small businesses and encourages development of new small businesses.
Description of the Facility
The Center contains a total of 46,679 sq. ft. The incubator contains three lab analysis research areas, a shared scientific instrument room, 9,000 sq. ft. of tenant office space, shipping/receiving (product distribution center), staff training room, seminar room and CIE staff offices. The academic wing contains over 16,000 sq. ft. of highly specialized teaching and research labs and offices.

CIE Advisory Board
- The Advisory Board makes recommendations regarding tenant applications and lease agreements for review and approval by the University President and Board of Regents
- The Advisory Board is currently co-chaired by Dr. Charles McAdams, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and Dr. Greg Haddock, acting dean of the Booth College of Business and Professional Studies
