Welcome to the Legislative Internship Site

Launch your career with an internship in Jefferson City serving a state representative or state senator. Spend the spring trimester at the state capitol gaining experience in the legislative process and a firm understanding of how Missouri is governed.

"The legislative internship was one of the most memorable and beneficial experiences I had while in school. I gained experience and knowledge from working one-on-one with legislators and their aides that could only have come from participating in the political system. The responsibilities I was given taught me more than anything I could have learned while in a classroom. The relationships I gained have opened multiple doors for future careers within the political realm, from Jefferson City all the way to Washington, D.C."

-Stephanie Boeth

"The Missouri Legislative Internship is a great opportunity for all Northwest students. It provides not only an inside look into the state's legislative process, but also puts you in a position to make connections with people in a variety of careers. Students of all majors and interests can benefit from the real-world experience of a legislative internship in Jefferson City."

-Paul Wilson

"Everyone thinks you have to be a Political Science major to do this internship, I am living proof that that isn't true.  Like most people I came into this internship knowing very little about state-wide government or how grassroots politics works; after living it I know more than most journalists writing the news stories about it."

-Doug Porter
