Bearcat Leadership Training is a FREE conference for Northwest Missouri State University current students. The conference is on campus and is open to all Northwest students and organizational advisors. The conference features keynote speakers and a variety of leadership workshops.

Call for Committees

What We Are Asking of You

We are contacting you to ask for your involvement in the planning process. There are 9 committees that each require a committee chair and committee members. Below is a list and short description of each committee.

Committee Assignments

a.      Presenter’s Chair and Committee Members
       Secure Workshop Presenters 
       Notify presenters of selection, session time and expectations 
       Organize check in table and hospitality room for presenters

b.     Logistics Chair and Committee Members
Work with Presenter’s and Keynote Chairs to confirm room set up and audio visual needs 
      Work with Auxiliary Services to ensure proper room set ups 
      Create signage for rooms

 c.      Promotions Chair and Committee Members
Create public relations and promotional blitz to advertise BLT 
        Facebook Advertisement and Event 

 d.     Registration Chair and Committee Members
Create and distribute registration forms to NW students and student organizations 
        Create master registration spreadsheet to be used at BLT check-in 
        Create & send surveys for presenters

 e.     Keynote Chair and Committee Members
        Research, select and secure the keynote speaker(s)  
        Serve as “host” to the Keynote presenter at BLT

 f.       Adornment Chair and Committee Members
Arrange meal(s) 
        Organize decorations 
        Create student business cards

 g.      Sponsorship Chair  and Committee Members
Seek out sponsorship opportunities 
        Research and select BLT gifts 
        Seek out door prizes

 h.     Evaluation Chair and Committee Members
Create event evaluations for participants and workshop presenters
        Create event evaluations for BLT committee 
        Compile the session evaluations 
        Send out the overall evaluation 

 i.        Case Study Chair and Committee Members
Obtain case study sponsorship 
         Collect case studies 
         Find at least three judges for the competition 
         Create timeline for the case studies during the competition 
         Create teams and their packets (these should include: their case study, guidelines, and evaluation) 
         Create packets for judges (evaluations for each team, case studies, and guidelines)
         Oversee payment to winners of case study


  • Attend planning meetings (Time and Date TBA)
  • Set up for and attend BLT on Friday, January 25 and Saturday, January 26, 2013
  • Interest in enhancing student leadership, engagement and community
  • Willingness to be creative, communicative and innovative
  • A positive attitude
