October 13-19, 2014

Homecoming at Northwest is a week-long celebration each October featuring athletic events, entertainment and plenty of opportunities for everyone to show their Bearcat spirit. Homecoming events are open to all Northwest students, alumni, faculty, staff, families and friends, and community members. This site contains all the information anyone would need to enjoy the Northwest Homecoming experience.

The Homecoming parade begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at the intersection of Northwest Drive and College Park Drive, east of the high-rise residence halls. The parade will proceed south on College Park Drive to College Avenue, continue east on College Avenue, travel north on University Drive and end on the Northwest campus at the intersection of University Drive and Seventh Street.

Points of interest

  • The area between Memorial Drive and the Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts is designated as a “family friendly” viewing area.
  • The parade is expected to feature more than 100 entries, including floats sponsored by campus and community organizations, bands and local businesses.
  • Northwest alumni are invited to the Homecoming Welcome prior to the parade at 8 a.m. at the Alumni House.
  • Lots 28 and 29 on the Northwest campus will close at midnight Friday for parade entries. 
  • Barricades
    • There are a number of barricades that will block traffic. University officials will be stationed and allow only those with permission to enter.
  • How to get to campus
    • The general public should enter campus from Second, Third, Seventh or Ninth streets and walk to their desired viewing location.

Football Game

  • Northwest Students FREE with valid Bearcat card
  • Single Game Reserved - $15
  • Adult General Admission - $10 (Single Game Only)
  • K-12 and Visiting Students with valid school ID - $8 (Single Game Only)

Bearcat Penny Wars

  • Each organization that wishes to participate will decorate a container/bucket with their organization’s name/logo/letters/symbol
    • Forms must be turned in to the Office of Campus Activities by September 26 at 5 p.m.
    • Forms are available on the Homecoming website,
    • There must be room left on the bucket for the Big Brothers Big Sisters logo
    • You will need to bring a bucket with your form or else your form will not be accepted.
    • Forms can only be turned in during the exec board’s office hours. Hours are posted at the OCA front desk.


  • Buckets will be out in the Union on the Info Tables from October 1-10 (Excluding weekends)
    • They will be displayed from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on those days


  • Pennies=2 points
  • Nickels=-5 points
  • Dimes=-10 points
  • Quarters=-25 points
  • Bills are negative amounts as well (i.e.: $5=-500 points)

 Annual Office Decorating Contest

The Homecoming Committee is now organizing our annual Office Decorating Contest! 

Contest Judging will take place on Monday Oct. 13th   Departments will be judged all day (8-5pm). Once we hear back from departments, we will be able to tell you a more precise time for judging.

Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ($150, $100, $50 from Aramark Catering).

Remember to be creative and incorporate the “A trip down Bearcat Lane” theme!

**Please use themes that are appropriate and tasteful. We reserve the right to determine inappropriate decorations. Please do not use department funds for decorations**
