When will registration be available?

Registration is now OPEN!

Is payment in full due when I register?

NO! You may pay one-half of the camp fee when you register, and make your final payment by May 11, 2017. OR...you may pay the entire camp fee at registration.

Do I need to send an audition CD or tape?

No.

Will I need to audition for ensemble placement when I arrive for Camp?

For band participants, YES. Auditions will be held to determine chair placement in ensembles, and will consist of:
  1. Major scales (chosen by the person listening to your audition) with key signatures up to four flats;
  2. A full range chromatic scale (at the student's current ability level);
  3. A BRIEF excerpt (two phrases maximum) from a solo of the student's choosing;
  4. And a BRIEF excerpt (maximum two lines) from an etude of the student's choosing.

If your solo is slow and melodic, choose a technical etude that demonstrates your technical facility, or vice versa. (Younger and less experienced musicians may use material from a band method or technique book used in their regular school band class. Check with your band director to make sure the material you choose is appropriate!)

Choir participants will have a placement audition on Sunday during check-in time. You do not need to bring prepared material(s) for the placement audition.

How is my enrollment into camp determined?

Students are accepted into Summer Music Camp on a first come, first served basis.

I’m going to graduate from high school at the end of this school year. Can I register for Summer Music Camp?

Absolutely! We accept students who are currently in grades 6 through 12 for the 2016-2017 academic school year.

I’m going to be entering 9th grade next fall. Do I choose Middle School Registration or High School Registration for Summer Music Camp?

Students register for the level that corresponds to their current (2016-2017 academic school year) grade level. So, you would register for the MIDDLE SCHOOL level.

I’m going to be entering 6th grade next fall. Can I register for Summer Music Camp?

Unfortunately, no. We accept students who are currently in grades 6 through 12 for the 2016-2017 academic school year. But…we do want to see you next summer!

What happens if there isn't room for me in Summer Music Camp by the time my application is processed?

You will be placed on our waiting list, and your payment will be refunded entirely if we are unable to include you for this summer’s camp. You can find more information about the waiting list below.

I registered a long time ago and I haven’t heard anything back yet. What should I do?

It is possible that your application has not yet been processed. We get hundreds of applications back within a week the opening of the registration site, and process hundreds of applications each year! At the height of the application time for camp, from March 1st until April 15th, we may not process all the applications until about three weeks after the postmark. Take note of the date you sent your application, and if it has been four weeks since you sent it in, please feel free to give us a call. We thank you for your patience.

I like being a member of my choir/band at school, but I don’t sing/play very well…so I would probably not enjoy Summer Music Camp.

WRONG! Summer Music Camp is for middle school and high school students of ALL performance levels. In fact, you will likely discover that your interest and abilities in music have improved because you attended!
