American Yellowwood, Cladrastis lutea
Native. Leaves are alternate, pinnately compound, 12 inches long, with five to seven leaflets, Height to 50 feet. Mature bark is smooth and grey and the wood is yellow. Showy flowers in white clusters become pea-like pods. Excellent tree for flowers and foliage, however not a very common tree. Southern Indiana has the only native forest surviving.
