Black Locust, Robinia pseudoacacia
Native to central and southeastern U.S. leave are alternate pinnately compund and up to 14 inches long. Leaf scars sport paired thorns 1/4 to 1/2 inches long. Fast-growing to 50' tall. Fruit is a pod. Spreads easily from seed and from root shoots. Tough tree, bees like the flowers, but not for most landscapes.
