Melvin D. and Valorie G. Booth College of Business and Professional Studies

Dr. Gregory HaddockThe Melvin D. and Valorie G. Booth College of Business and Professional Studies is moving forward with a campus plan to merge and align department units to better respond to current and future fiscal challenges.  Specifically in the college this plan consists of merging the departments of Accounting/Economics/Finance with Marketing/Management to create a unified Department of Business. The Merchandising program (formerly in the College of Education and Human Services) will now be in the Department of Business.

Another impact is to align the Communication faculty from the Communication/Theatre/Languages department with the department of Mass Communication to form the Department of Communication and Mass Media. These Communication faculty, currently in the College of Arts and Sciences, will administratively fall under the Booth College in this new alignment.  This addition is offset by moving the Computer Science/Information Systems department to the College of Arts and Sciences (where they will be merged with the mathematics and statistics faculty).

The only change to the Department of Agriculture is that the name will now be the Department of Agricultural Sciences.  The Booth College will have three departments, rather than five, and two of them will be substantially larger than before.  We are excited about our future and will advance the needs of our students by supporting our programs and faculty.

Sincerely,

Gregory Haddock
