Northwest Missouri State University

Wren BakerThe Athletic Department at Northwest is committed to providing a quality experience for our student-athletes and stakeholders.

A renewed focus has been put on maximizing resources and working collaboratively with partners on campus and in the community in light of the University’s recent realignment and decrease in force.  While the most recent actions did not lead to an elimination of a sport program within athletics, budget cuts (over $400,000 in cuts since 2008) continue to affect our overall operation on a daily basis.  It is imperative that we continue to find ways to produce even greater results with these limited resources in a highly competitive environment.

As an athletic department, we understand that many times we serve as the “front porch” of the University and the inherent responsibility that accompanies that label.  An area of great pride for the University comes from our student-athletes achievements in the classroom.  Bearcat student-athletes continue to boast a high graduation rate that exceeds campus averages as well as state and national averages.  In addition, we are committed to remaining in Title IX compliance and contributing to the betterment our community through a number of projects.

Our coaches consistently ask our 460+ student-athletes to give 100 percent effort in their performances in the classroom, community and in their respective sport.  We are dedicated to matching that commitment as a staff.  We ultimately, though, cannot enjoy the success we all desire without an active base of contributors.  Your involvement with the Bearcats through attendance at events and philanthropic giving is vitally important to serving our students.  Thank you to those of you who are currently supporting athletics and if you desire to be involved, please let us know.
