Spring 2011

More than 40 members of the Band Alumni Chapter performed with the Bearcat Marching Band during halftime of the Northwest Homecoming football game in October. The chapter conducted its quarterly meeting in St. Joseph in January and also determined the next Northwest Band Alumni Day will be Saturday, Sept. 10, when the Bearcats play Sioux Falls at 6 p.m. The chapter's primary goal this year is to raise funds through the Northwest Foundation to endow the Ward Rounds Instrumental Music Scholarship in memory of former Northwest band director Ward Rounds, who died in March 2011. Rounds served in the music department from 1960 to 1985 and was the founder of the Northwest Summer Music Camp program.
