"Teaching the Works of Willa Cather" recently has been published by Northwest's GreenTower Press.
The book is co-edited by Dr. Steven Shively, associate professor of English at Utah State University, and Dr. Virgil Albertini, professor emeritus at Northwest. Teresa Carter, Northwest's publications coordinator, served as the book's design and editorial specialist.
Shively and Albertini will sign copies of the book from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, in the Bearcat Bookstore. Albertini also will sign books from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday, Oct. 24, the morning of Northwest's Homecoming, in the Bearcat Bookstore. A $10 discount per book will be given during both signing occasions.
Albertini said the book contains 19 essays and offers "a wide range of approaches to the novels and short fiction of the prominent American author."
Both editors, former Northwest faculty members, are longtime members of the Board of Governors of the Willa Cather Foundation and are founding co-editors of Teaching Cather, a semiannual journal dedicated to Cather literature and pedagogy.
