"When we first came to Northwest, we were certain that we wanted to stay. Northwest and Maryville became our home, and our students were like family. Northwest has been good to us, and we are proud to be a part of it."
Dr. Virgil Albertini served Northwest for 34 years as a professor of English before retiring in 1999. His wife, Dolores, was a librarian at Northwest and sponsored Gamma Sigma Sigma. The two co-authored Towers in the Northwest, a history of the University from 1956 to 1980. Sponsor of many campus organizations during his tenure and a past recipient of the Northwest Turret Award and the Distinguished Emeritus Faculty Award, Virgil served as faculty athletic representative for 17 years. The Albertinis, known for their dedication to students, have insured accessibility to future generations of Bearcats.
