Founded in 1905, Northwest Missouri State University is a state-assisted, four-year regional university with a recognized tradition of quality education. Northwest is governed by a state-appointed Board of Regents and accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Green Campus

An environmentally friendly campus, Northwest has been using alternative fuels like wood chips, paper pellets and animal waste since 1982 - providing 80 to 85 percent of the thermal energy needs of our campus. Northwest also recycles aluminum, plastic, paper, glass, cardboard and other materials. State and national organizations have recognized Northwest for its energy conservation efforts.
