As a first-time freshman, you are probably excited about your transition to college and beginning your new life at Northwest -- and we are just as excited to welcome you to the Northwest family. But along with that excitement you may also be feeling some uncertainty. The purpose of SOAR is to ease that uncertainty and address those unanswered questions you may still have, making your transition into college as smooth as possible.
SOAR is a Summer Orientation Advisement and Registration program for first-time freshmen. During SOAR you will spend one day on campus visiting with your SOAR Leader (a current Northwest student who shares similar interests), meeting with a faculty advisor and registering for first trimester classes. You will also get the opportunity to visit the residence halls, attend a student services fair and meet personnel from the Office of Scholarships and Financial Assistance.
We understand that you may not be the only one with unanswered questions. A special program is also available for parents and family members of our incoming freshmen during SOAR. At the end of the day the whole family will leave knowing what to expect when you move to campus in the fall.
