Northwest's women's basketball team completes record-making season with first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division II semifinals.
For the second consecutive year, Northwest Missouri State University's Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) team is qualified for national competition by winning its regional competition March 11 in Rogers, Ark.
The team brought home the regional championship trophy by edging Missouri State University and Crowder College.
During the regional competitions, teams must present written annual reports and live audio-visual presentations showing the results of their annual community outreach projects to panels of business leaders serving as judges. The teams are evaluated on their success with creating economic opportunities for others.
During 2010-2011, the team contributed more than 400 hours and impacted more than 10,000 people this year.
Knacktive, a newly created student agency based at Northwest Missouri State University, has confirmed their first client, Lasik Plus Vision of Cincinnati, OH. After jointly researching the client's target-market Knacktive's three student teams will individually develop a marketing communications plan and creative solutions. All three teams will "pitch" their respective plans and creative solutions to Lasik Plus executives at the end of the current semester.
Education majors and school districts attended the 2011 Education Expo on Friday, March 11, in Bearcat Arena.
Education Expo is a positive networking opportunity for all education majors, alumni and school districts. Students had the opportunity to learn about future employers and school districts were able to meet possible employees.
Northwest's office of Career Services coordinates the annual event, and more than 70 school districts from Missouri, Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska were in attendance.
For 25 years the Talent Development Center at Northwest Missouri State University has helped students navigate the rigors of college courses, and the TDC's Supplemental Instruction program offers extra help with peer tutoring groups for traditionally tough classes.
Northwest Missouri State University added another championship to its list of achievements over the weekend as the University's wrestling club won the National Collegiate Wrestling Association Division II National Championship in Macon, Ga.
