With more than 24 percent of the Northwest student population representing either students of color or international students, Northwest’s Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion assists in the planning and implementing of events that promote inclusivity and diversity. Below is a brief list of events and organizations:

Programs and Events

Multicultural Student Organization Block Party

The Multicultural Student Organization Block Party provides students the opportunity to listen to music, enjoy free food and learn about intercultural organizations on campus.

Black History Month

Each February, the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion organizes several events celebrating Black History Month.

Hispanic Heritage

Each year, the Spanish Club and Juntos, the Hispanic student organization, organize activities in the month of October to promote cultural diversity and commemorate the Hispanic heritage.

Martin Luther King Jr.

Northwest Missouri State University honors civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. with a series of events, including the annual peace brunch and a march from the University campus to the Nodaway County Courthouse in downtown Maryville.
