Meet the Provost

Doug DunhamDouglas Dunham, Ph.D.

Interim Provost Douglas Dunham was named Northwest Missouri State University's top academic officer in June, 2009. He oversees all academic programs at the University, including undergraduate, graduate, Outreach and online degree offerings.

Dr. Dunham came to Northwest in 1995 when he joined the Department of Psychology, Sociology and Counseling as an assistant professor. He was promoted to associate professor in 2002 and full professor in 2008. After serving as the department’s chair from 2005-2007, Dr. Dunham was named interim director of the Office of Assessment, Information and Analysis and assistant to the provost in 2007. He became associate provost in 2008.

Dr. Dunham has served on numerous campus academic and administrative committees. He was the Faculty Senate president in 2001-2002 and has been a member of the Institutional Review Board, the General Education Curriculum Committee, the Graduate Council and the Academic Chairs Council.

He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology from Ball State University and completed his Ph.D. with an emphasis in psychophysiology at Washington University in St. Louis, where he also completed post-doctorate studies at the Washington University School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry.
