Ad exec to deliver centennial lecture

Alumnus Bill Price, chairman and CEO
of Empower MediaMarketing, will deliver the next Northwest centennial
lecture at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, in the J.W. Jones Student
Union Ballroom.
MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest
Missouri State University’s next centennial lecture will
be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, in the J.W. Jones Student
Union Ballroom. The featured speaker is Bill Price, chairman and
CEO of Empower MediaMarketing of Cincinnati, Ohio.
The title of Price's presentation is "Communications
Explosion! ... Big Bucks for Bearcats!"
Price graduated from Northwest in 1960 with
a bachelor’s degree in secondary education. After serving
in the Army, he received a second bachelor’s degree in journalism/advertising
from the University of Missouri.
His professional career began at the Leo
Burnett advertising agency where he helped market Kellogg Company
products such as Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes, Pop-Tarts, Special
K and Eggo Frozen Waffles.
Price also held senior marketing and management
positions with a pay-television company, a large theme park and
the Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce before founding Empower
in 1985.
Today Price manages 125 employees responsible
for spending more than $300 million a year in client advertising
dollars. In 2005, Empower was named the fourth-best small U.S.
company to work for by the Great Place to Work Institute.
Price was nominated as a centennial speaker
by Northwest’s Department of Communication, Theatre and
Languages.
