Barton’s exec is next centennial speaker

Matthew Borgard

MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest’s series of centennial alumni presentations continues at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, in the J.W. Jones Student Union Ballroom. The featured speaker will be Matthew Borgard, (’80, ’82).

Borgard is the senior national account manager for Barton Beers, Ltd., in Chicago. His talk, “Mixology 101 – Tapping into your Future,” will focus on how University students can combine academic, social and athletic experiences in ways that help ensure success following graduation.

After earning undergraduate and MBA degrees at Northwest, Borgard accepted a position with the Coors Brewing Co. He has spent the past 19 years at Barton, where he served as a regional manager and manager of promotional marketing before accepting his current position.

Borgard has been instrumental in developing marketing, retail and point-of-purchase programs for Barton, which is the U.S. importer for a number of premium beers, including Corona Extra and St. Pauli Girl.

In 1996, the St. Louis native was selected to the “40 Under 40” list of up-and-coming managers by the “P-O-P Times,” a trade publication for the point-of-purchase industry.

He is a frequent guest speaker throughout the Midwest and currently serves on the Northwest Alumni Association Board of Directors.

Borgard was nominated to be a centennial alumni speaker by the Department of Marketing and Management. All presentations in the series are free and open to the public.
