Barton’s exec is next centennial
speaker

Matthew Borgard
MARYVILLE, Mo.
- Northwest’s series of centennial alumni presentations
continues at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, in the J.W. Jones Student
Union Ballroom. The featured speaker will be Matthew Borgard,
(’80, ’82).
Borgard is the senior national account manager
for Barton Beers, Ltd., in Chicago. His talk, “Mixology
101 – Tapping into your Future,” will focus on how
University students can combine academic, social and athletic
experiences in ways that help ensure success following graduation.
After earning undergraduate and MBA degrees
at Northwest, Borgard accepted a position with the Coors Brewing
Co. He has spent the past 19 years at Barton, where he served
as a regional manager and manager of promotional marketing before
accepting his current position.
Borgard has been instrumental in developing
marketing, retail and point-of-purchase programs for Barton, which
is the U.S. importer for a number of premium beers, including
Corona Extra and St. Pauli Girl.
In 1996, the St. Louis native was selected
to the “40 Under 40” list of up-and-coming managers
by the “P-O-P Times,” a trade publication for the
point-of-purchase industry.
He is a frequent guest speaker throughout
the Midwest and currently serves on the Northwest Alumni Association
Board of Directors.
Borgard was nominated to be a centennial
alumni speaker by the Department of Marketing and Management.
