Fire Arts Building.
Northwest's Department of Art will hold the winter edition of its biannual Student Art Show and Sale from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, and 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, in the Fire Arts Building, which is located immediately to the east of the Olive DeLuce Fine Arts Building on the south end of campus.
Laura Kukkee, assistant professor of art, said students from all studio areas are encouraged to participate in the show and sale, which will offer pottery, paintings, drawings, prints and photographs.
The sale is an excellent opportunity to purchase unique Christmas gifts for friends and family, Kukkee said, adding that there should be something to fit everyone's taste and budget.
In addition to pottery, there will be a number of two-dimensional works for sale, and each will be framed or otherwise ready to hang.
Artworks can be purchased by cash or check, and shoppers are reminded that a line of customers often forms before the show opens.
Eighty-five percent of the money raised at the show goes directly to students, Kukkee said, and helps them offset the cost of art supplies. Remaining proceeds support art-oriented activities for student arts organizations such as the Clay Club and Art Association.
