New location set for Oct. 23 candidates' forum

NOTE: THE LOCATION OF THIS EVENT HAS CHANGED FROM THE TOWER VIEW ROOM TO THE BALLROOM ON THE THIRD FLOOR OF THE J.W. JONES STUDENT UNION.

Several Northwest student groups have joined forces with the Northwest chapter of Business and Professional Women to host a candidates’ forum scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, in the third-floor Ballroom of the J.W. Jones Student Union.

Candidates who have agreed to speak include:

The campus forum is being coordinated by Brooke Beason, vice president of the Northwest Student Senate. Sponsoring student organizations include the Young Democrats, the College Republicans and the Political Science Club. 

A similar forum featuring a number of candidates for public office will take place at 7 p.m. the same day at the Nodaway County Courthouse in downtown Maryville. 

The community forum is being sponsored by the Maryville Citizens for Community Action and the Greater Maryville Chamber of Commerce. In addition to presentations by area candidates, moderator Dave McLaughlin, associate professor of political science at Northwest, will offer explanations of the General Election ballot measures (Constitutional Amendments 1 and 4 and Propositions A, B and C).
