Northwest faculty and staff will be featured guests on this week’s installment of AgriTalk, a nationally syndicated radio program that will air live from 10-11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 17, from the Maryville campus.
Area listeners can tune into the program on KFEQ (AM 680) in St. Joseph, which serves as the St. Louis-based program’s flagship station. The show is also carried by KSIB (AM 1520) in Creston, Iowa.
On-line listeners can access the show at www.agritalk.com, and those wishing to call in questions or comments during the broadcast may do so by dialing 888-247-4825.
Local guests scheduled for the broadcast include Northwest Professor Emeritus of History Tom Carneal, Instructor of Agriculture Rod Barr and a representative from the Greater Maryville Chamber of Commerce.
Discussion topics are to include Northwest’s agriculture programs as well as the University’s alternative energy initiative, in which pelletized wastepaper, cardboard and animal wastes are burned in order to produce much of the thermal energy used to heat and cool campus buildings.
AgriTalk airs on 56 stations in Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, North Dakota, South Dakota, Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, West Virginia and Wisconsin. It is hosted by veteran agriculture broadcaster Mike Adams, who often takes the show on the road in order to bring listeners live discussions from news-making agricultural centers and operations nationwide.
Adams has received numerous awards from agricultural and civic organizations, including the Illinois Friend of 4-H Award, the National FFA Honorary American Farmer Degree, the United Soybean Board's Communications Award and the Illinois Commodities Groups’ Friend of Agriculture Award.
