Interest and Activities

I strive to introduce children to good quality literature. I love to read and surround myself with books. I try to carry this passion over into my classroom and allow ample opportunities for the children to read, be read to and to engage with many genre of literature. I also enjoy running and which started when I was a child and more recently found a passion for riding my bike.  I enjoy being outside with the children whether it’s is exploring our outdoor space or helping the children understand the importance of staying healthy through food and exercise. Favorite Things About Teaching

In teaching I love seeing the children so excited about the world around them. I enjoy helping them follow their own curiosity and encourage them to question everything!  It is a wonderful feeling being a part of their growth and development. I want to be an important part of making their environment safe, stable, and nurturing.

Goals for the Year

In keeping with our ideals and philosophy I strive every day to create an environment in which your child will form positive self-concepts, build lasting relationships, and a love for learning.

Everyday when your children enters my classroom the learning will be based on the current interests of our room. As your child’s teacher I will provide them with materials and experiences to extend their learning.

Year Arrived at the University

I have long been a faithful member of the Northwest Missouri State University family. I arrived as a Freshman majoring in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood in the Fall of 1998 from Papillion, Nebraska.  I also was a part of the Cross-Country and Track teams during my time at Northwest.

After graduation I begin working as Graduate Assistant in 3rd Grade at Horace Mann Laboratory School on campus before accepting a pre-kindergarten position at their Early Child Center, I taught from 2000-2006.

After six years of being away from the University I returned to teach pre-school at the newly constructed Phyllis and Richard Leet Center for Children and Families in 2012.
