First-time Freshmen and Transfers: Most major-specific scholarships can be applied for by completing the Standard Scholarship Application in CatPAWS by Feb. 1, 2013.
Letters after the scholarship name indicate who may apply for the award:
[F] Freshman | [C] Continuing | [T] Transfer | [G] Graduate
Recipient shall be a full-time sophomore, junior or senior and have declared a major in English. Academic achievement will be considered.
Be at least a sophomore in good academic standing and show excellence in English coursework.
The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage creative writing. The applicant must submit an original composition (not a thesis or research paper).
Recipient must have declared a major in English with preference to, but not limited to, teacher education, have a 3.5 GPA, and show financial need.
Recipients shall maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50, have declared an academic major in the area of English (literature emphasis), and show financial need.
Awarded to a junior English major for use in senior year. Cumulative GPA of 3.00 with 3.50 in sophomore and junior English courses. Preference given to a student with financial need who has shown extraordinary effort and improvement.
Recipient shall be a senior majoring in English and have the top GPA, which is cumulative of all English major courses, by the end of the fall trimester before his/her graduation date.
Awarded to an English education major with at least sophomore standing and a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Awarded to a language major with a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA. Consideration is based on academic standing and financial need.
Awarded to a language major or minor that is eligible to enroll in a Modern Languages class beyond the first-year level.
