Admissions-based Transfer Scholarships

Program in effect for students entering Northwest for the first time in fall 2012. Admission deadline for Fall awards-May 1.

TRANSFER DISTINGUISHED SCHOLARSHIP

24 transferable credit hours completed by time of application
3.5-4.00 cumulative GPA in transfer
First-time student at Northwest

$2,500

Minimum 3.50 Northwest cumulative GPA and completion of 24 credit hours per academic year. If Northwest cumulative GPA is less than 3.5, student will follow Transfer Academic Scholarship and is not eligible to return to the Transfer Distinguished Scholar Program. 
Maximum Award: Six trimesters within consecutive academic years

TRANSFER ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP

24 transferable credit hours completed by time of application
3.30-3.49 cumulative GPA in transfer
First-time student at Northwest

$1,500

Minimum 3.30 Northwest cumulative GPA and completion of 24 credit hours per academic year. If Northwest cumulative GPA is less than 3.30 at end of academic year, student is not eligible to return to Transfer Academic Scholarship.
Maximum Award: Six trimesters within consecutive academic years.

TRANSFER MERIT

24 transferable credit hours completed by time of application
3.00-3.29 cumulative GPA in transfer
First-time student at Northwest

$500

Renews to the University Scholar Program with completion of 24 credit hours per academic year and a Northwest cumulative GPA of 3.30.
Maximum Award: Two trimesters of Transfer Merit and six trimesters of University Scholar within consecutive academic years.

PHI THETA KAPPA SCHOLARSHIP

Indicate Phi Theta Kappa membership on application
3.50 cumulative GPA in transfer
24 transferable credit hours completed by time of application
Accepted for admission by May 1
First-time student at Northwest

$750

Copy of Phi Theta Kappa certificate of membership required with acceptance form.

MIDWEST STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM (MSEP)

At least 24 transferable credit hours: must have cumulative GPA of 3.00
If less than 24 completed hours, must have Admissions Index of 140-199 or ACT 23-26 and minimum 2.0 high school GPA and be a regular admit 
Resident of Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, or Wisconsin 
First-time student at Northwest

Estimate: $2931.60 (50% reduction in difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition based on 30 credit hours for fall/spring trimester)

3.00 Northwest cumulative GPA and completion of 24 credit hours per academic year.
Maximum Award: 132 total credit hours earned (including dual credit and transfer hours).

OUT-OF-STATE AWARD

At least 24 transferable credit hours: must have cumulative GPA of 3.00
If less than 24 completed hours, must have Admissions Index of 140-199 or ACT 23-26 and minimum 2.0 high school GPA and be a regular admit
 Nonresident from states other than Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, or Wisconsin

CULTURAL ENRICHMENT SCHOLARSHIP

24 transferable credit hours

First-time student at Northwest
 ELIGIBILITY: American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, Black or African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, U.S. citizen or graduate from eligible high school.
