Since 2006, Steve Frogge has served as an adjudication judge for the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards sponsored by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. For the last three years he has participated in the Prairie Lands Writing Project. He has a special interest in religious writing, and for the last few years he has been reading works by Asian writers and American and British writers of Asian ancestry, focusing on the Muslim world. He is reading contemporary writers Orhan Pamuk, Khaled Hosseini, Mohsin Hamid and Haroon Moghul, as well as the late Pramoedya Ananta Toer.
