She was born in Transylvania (in Romania), but has not met a vampire yet. She studied English Literature and Linguistics in Romania, then History in Hungary. For her dissertation, she focused on Victorian and Transatlantic Studies in the context of book history and reception. Her interests in visual studies have ranged from paintings to book illustrations to films, and her teaching reflects her interdisciplinary research. Her favorite authors are Thomas Hardy, George Eliot, Henry James, and a range of Eastern-European authors she likes to sneak into her courses. She also loves photography and camping.
