Information Systems rolled out the new web portal for students, faculty and staff called myNorthwest, similar to My Yahoo, at the start of the Fall 2008 trimester.
A customizable interface system driven by SunGuard's Luminus Platform software, myNorthwest features message boards, on-line groups, chat rooms, photo albums and targeted messages based on a user's campus community status.
The new myNorthwest web portal allows users to customize their portal page based on personal preferences. Logging on to myNorthwest will also provide access to CatPAWS, a personal and university calendar, e-mail and other University Web services after typing in a single username and password.
According to Information Systems Programming Manager, Girijia Chavala, "myNorthwest functions as an on-line community portal for the entire University."
Campus-wide content planning for myNorthwest began in January under the direction of Web Application Developer Jeremy Baumli, who will serve as the portal administrator. The content planning process allowed for input from a number of focus groups and stakeholders.
For more information about myNorthwest, contact Jeremy Baumli at 660-562-1967. Basic myNorthwest how-to instructions can be found on the Online Support web site.
