Notebook Project Starts!

The new computers have CD-RW/DVD-ROM drives, as well as, zip drives for easy and multiple means of large data storage.

Students that patronize the public "general-purpose" computing labs in Owens Library will enjoy their new "moo-licious" black-and-white look. Upgraded over the summer, the labs now boast new Gateway hardware that includes:

  • 2.93 GHz Intel Celeron D processor 340
  • 80GB Hard disk drive
  • 512MB Ram memory
  • 48x/24x/48x CD-RW/8x DVD-ROM drive
  • Zip 750 drives
  • Integrated AGP video
  • Integrated Sound Blaster compatible Audio
  • Integrated Intel 10/100 Network Interface
  • 8 USB ports (2 front, 6 rear), 1 parallel port , 1 serial port
  • 3.5" 1.44 MB floppy
  • Gateway USB optical wheel mouse
  • 104+ keyboard (PS/2)

The new lab computers contain the following system and software:

  • Microsoft Windows XP professional (Operating system)
  • Microsoft Office 2003 professional (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access)
  • Internet Explorer and Norton Anti-Virus

In-person support is provided to all students, faculty and staff by Client Computing User Consultants and their student staff in the Owens Library public computing labs. Client Computing lab consultants provide assistance with all standardized university software, including Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver. In addition, the lab consultants also assist with password changes and conduct non-credit, non-profit computer training courses for faculty, staff and students.

Client Computing Lab hours during the Fall/Spring trimesters are: Monday-Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 11:34 p.m., Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. (Hours vary during intercessions, summer and holidays)
