Students helping students with technology is the premise behind the Information Systems innovative PERT program, which stands for Peer Educator in Residence for Technology.

The program, which started in Spring 2004, gives students the opportunity to get valuable, hands-on technology experience, while providing them with free room and board.

According to PERT Adam Clark, the position has given him "a lot of positive interaction with students, as well as, Residential Life and Information Systems department staff."

"The best part about being a PERT for me is the interaction with the residents in my hall," PERT Adam Clark said. "You really get to know people that normally you wouldn't have the opportunity to know."

Currently, there are three PERTS with duties that range from assisting in the configuration of personal computers to work properly on the Northwest network to conducting computing policy information workshops.

A fourth PERT will be added in Fall 2004, and additional PERTS may be hired depending upon amount of work and response to the program.
