Northwest: Home to the

Native. Leaves alternate, simple, 2 to 4 inches long. Dark red to purple fruits. Bark warty, grey to brown, easily identified. Height to 100 feet. Conforms to adverse conditions. Nipple galls, caused by an insect, usually disfigure the leaves, but do no permanent damage.
