Yellow Poplar (Tulip Tree)

Liriodendron tulipifera

Eastern United States. Leaves are simple, alternate and have a unique tulip shape which gives the tree its other common name. The terminal buds resemble a duck's bill. Height to 150 feet. The wood is used to make furniture and boats.
