The Gridiron Chapter recently hosted a meet-and-greet with Bearcat head football coach Adam Dorrel to discuss the latest recruits to the team. This provided a venue for players of all generations to ask Dorrel about the team as well as to reminisce about their days on the gridiron. The chapter is preparing for the Third Annual Red Hat Golf Classic, a two-man, three-club golf scramble at Maryville Country Club that takes place the same day as the spring football game. Festivities for the day beyond the tournament include breakfast, lunch and attending the spring game in the afternoon. The event is open to all former football players, and additional information can be requested by emailing email@example.com.
The Gridiron Chapter’s second Red Hat Classic golf tournament was in April prior to the spring football game. Chapter members also enjoyed a football player alumni reunion prior to the Bearcats home opener last year, and another reunion is slated for this year’s home opener, Sept. 5. The chapter also hosted a suite at the Fall Classic at Arrowhead last October and enjoyed watching the Bearcats roll to victory over the Gorillas.
In mid-April, the Gridiron Chapter hosted its first Red Hat Classic in Maryville with more than 50 golfers playing the nine-hole, two-man scramble. In addition, the chapter is coordinating a player reunion and tailgate for the Aug. 30 home opener. Former Bearcat football players will gather that afternoon to celebrate the beginning of another successful season. The chapter also will host a suite at the Fall Classic at Arrowhead.
The Gridiron Chapter’s first event, "The Red Hat Classic," is set for April 14 at the Maryville Country Club (which coincides with the spring football game). The two-man, three-club golf tournament is open to any former Bearcat football player. Coach Adam Dorrel will kick off the tournament by giving golfers a scouting report for that evening’s game, followed by the nine-hole tournament, tailgating and attending the spring game. Other events for 2012 include a Bearcat football player reunion during the first home football game, hosting a suite for all former football players at the Fall Classic at Arrowhead and a Homecoming tailgate.
